CALAMUS

Acorus calamus

Used as a herbal remedy since very old times. Its roots are picked up by digging the beds of rivulets and streams, appropriately cleaned and pared if necessary; then dried in a drying chamber at 35ºC in a constant degree. Highly aromatic plant is also crispy. They are stored in closed boxes. As a MEDICINE: Digestive problems, to whet appetite, to stimulate digestion and gastric juice and used as a cure for problems about stomach; when  used externally it provides a powerful  blood circulation and  strengthens the nerves by bathing. The etherised oil and bitter material is extracted from the plant and produced as a dust tea and dropper  in order to use as a medicine.

Especially have simulative effects on digestive organs and gall bladder. Also affects positively the blood production, circulation and metabolism malfunctions. Herbal bath  and rubbing with the essence of the plant ends up with a quick power gaining  in the rachitis at children. This plant’s roots must only be picked up and must be picked up on spring and fall.

CENTAURY

Centaurium erythraea

It  is  a herbaceous plant that lives one or two year. Its fruit has a capsule-like fruit.  It grows up in sunny hillsides, forest regions and in lawns. This herb is spread as a plaque and dried in a shaded area or in drying system up to 40ºC. It should be stored in closed boxes and in dark and dry places. This is a very curative plant. Includes glycosides and  bitter  matter (etherised oil, tanning material and other material.) The bitter matter stimulates the nerves connected with  taste buds  on the tongue. And supports gastric juice production in reflexive ways. This is an effective gastric and secretory gland stimulator just like the yellow centiyana.

It is represented for usage as bitter drops and teas. According to public health information a mixture with ¼ litres of water  is prepared as a cure and drunk evenings and mornings before having meal. It has a  very strong healing power as an antipyretic . It is useful for liver and other  gastric problems when used as a tea. Tea is good for dyspepsia and urinary difficulties. It lowers tension and fever. It is drunk in mornings as a tea especially in some areas of North Germany against throat problems. This herb stimulates the stomach.
